The legend will finally accept the offer to move to Arabia

The 43-year-old former England captain was sacked by Aston Villa last October and has not managed a team since. The deal comes at a time when Saudi Arabia is conducting a major multi-million-euro transfer campaign to attract football stars.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema are among the players already in the Saudi professional football league. One of the best English footballers in history is Steven Gerrard, who became a Liverpool legend by winning the UEFA Champions League 2004-05, UEFA Cup 2000-01 and domestic competitions such as FA Cup (2) and League Cup (3). Now, after managing Rangers in Scotland and Aston Villa in the Premier League, the 43-year-old is close to reaching the Saudi Pro League.

In an opportunity that would see him take on the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema from the bench, multiple reports suggest that Gerrard is close to becoming the new manager of Saudi Arabia's Al-Etiffaq ahead of the 2023-24 season. The move would be a welcome boost to his managerial career and would see him lead one of the most exciting projects in the country.

<strong>The salary</strong>

A video was released on Twitter by local media, showing Gerrard arriving at Al-Etiffaq's training centre to sign his signature on the contract, making him the new coach of Al-Etiffaq. Steven Gerrard's previous homes were Anfield, Ibrox Stadium and Villa Park, but now he will have the Prince Mohamed bin Fahd Stadium as his home in the city of Dammam. According to various reports, his salary could be as much as 12 million a year.
