After four years in charge of Liverpool and after losing a Champions League final to Real Madrid, Jürgen Klopp led us to European glory by winning the 2019 Champions League final against Tottenham, starting the most recent golden era in our club's history that saw us celebrate every possible trophy at least once.
There is no doubt that Jürgen Klopp did a terrific job returning our Liverpool to the top ranks of European football and ending a 30-year drought without winning the Premier League the following season, but it is also fair to say that Klopp had great players in that team that conquered the sixth Champions League in the club's history.
Led by the attacking trident of Sadio Mané, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino, that team had great stars who became great figures of the club, as they were all fundamental for the Reds to lift the cup of the most important tournament at club level in the world, but today many of those players are no longer at Anfield.
Much has been said about the irruption of the Saudi Pro League in the European transfer market, and the clearest sign is that the players of the starting XI of the 2019 Champions League final of our Liverpool who are no longer in the team, are all in some Saudi Arabian club.
Of those eleven players who started as starters for our Liverpool in the 2019 Champions League final, only six are still in the team. Alisson, Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, Andrew Robertson, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah. The other five players who are Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mané decided to continue their careers in Saudi Arabia at Al-Ittihad, Al-Ettifaq, Al-Ahli and Al-Nassr respectively.
