Liverpool were finally able to secure a draw in the Carabao Cup tie against Leicester at Anfield thanks to a goal from Dutchman Cody Gakpo who combined with compatriot Ryan Gravenberch to get inside the box and with a powerful shot with his right foot beat the Foxes' goalkeeper to make the score one to one and make the stadium explode with a very good attendance.
The Reds had a difficult start to the game as they went behind in the first half with a third minute goal from Mc Ateer who took advantage of a mistake by Greek Kostas Tsimikas to get in front of goal and beat Irishman Caohim Kelleher who replaced Brazilian Alisson who was not called up by boss Jürgen Klopp.
For the second half, the Reds upped their level and asked to hurt the Foxes. The play started in midfield with Ryan Gravenberch who was able to give a great assist to Cody Gakpo who from a half turn connected a powerful shot to beat the Foxes goal. At that moment the striker made a very strange celebration by making a movement with his fingers which generated some doubts among the fans.
While there is still no explanation for his celebration, many have been encouraged to say that it was to send a message to his partner. This was Gakpo's first goal of the season, remembering that he lost his place in the centre of the attack to Uruguay's Darwin Núñez, who has shone at the start of the campaign.
