Football's biggest stars maintain healthy eating diets, but like everyone else they have their gastronomic preferences and, from time to time, indulge in a few palate pleasers. Cristiano Ronaldo. The Manchester United and Portugal striker is a lover of golden cod or bacalhau à brás. It is a typical recipe of Portuguese cuisine and also of Macau. The main ingredients are cod, eggs, potatoes and onion.

Karim Benzemá. The Real Madrid star is a lover of couscous, a typical dish of North African cuisine. Couscous is made from wheat semolina and is usually accompanied by vegetables, chickpeas and red meat or chicken. However, in the Maghreb countries it is often eaten on its own or with milk. It should not be forgotten that Karim Benzema, although born in Lyon, France, is of Algerian descent.

Mo Salah's incredible reason for going viral on social media

And, according to his personal chef Marcela Lermy, he is also crazy about sweets, be they biscuits or even condensed milk.

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah of Egypt follows a strict diet, but has confessed to loving kushari, his country's most typical dish: a mixture of lentils, chickpeas, pasta and rice coated in garlic and topped with tomato sauce and spices. For breakfast, he likes paratha, a typical Indian bread made from wheat flour and usually stuffed with vegetables.

Every football star has a favourite food

The Polish striker Robert Lewandowski, Barcelona's big signing this season from Bayern Munich, follows a strict reverse diet with his wife Anna Lewandowski. They generally start with dessert, which is usually a pure cocoa brownie, and then eat a main course rich in protein and carbohydrates (usually rice with meat or fish). Finally, they conclude with a salad or soup.
