What changed from last year to this year? They won but Liverpool don't look good

Liverpool again claimed victory at Anfield, this time against Newcastle, but in a very different way to last Saturday's 9-0 thrashing of Bournemouth. This time, on the stroke of half-time, Fabio Carvalho rescued an agonising victory for Jurgen Klopp's side.

In the 38th minute, Newcastle striker Alexander Isak put the upon Tyne side in front, while Firmino equalised in the 61st minute after several misses and approaches from Luis Diaz, Mohamed Salah and Co. had failed to penetrate the visitors' defence.

But there is a sense that it is not the same as last year, in the first half, because the team under Klopp had never started a campaign with seven points, two draws, a defeat and two wins, despite the latter, in agonising fashion, put fans and pundits thinking that something is going on at the club.

Injuries, attitude and the departure of Mane

While injuries have been a problem at the start of the campaign, unlike last season, Klopp's change of players have responded at times, but they have not yet been able to achieve the kind of football we were used to last season.

Hopefully with the return of several players and the start of the Champions League, the team will find their form again and return to those magical nights they have accustomed us to, without forgetting the good attitude they have and without missing Sadio Mane, who is already back with his new team in Germany.
