After our Liverpool's first game of the 2023-2024 Premier League season against Chelsea, it was clear that the squad needed more reinforcements, as although we got a point from our visit to Satmford Bridge, the team came very close to losing on their season debut and had it not been for Alisson Becker it might have been so.

After that game it became clear that at least one new defensive midfielder was urgently needed in the team, and that is why this week it was announced that the Anfield board has signed Wataru Endo, a 30 year old Japanese defensive midfielder who was the captain of Stuttgart in the Bundesliga, where he became one of the most reliable and prolific players in his position.

Although his signing was cheap and very fast, it remains to be seen if Wataru Endo will be able to make his debut with Liverpool this weekend when the team hosts Borunemouth at Anfield, as it remains to be seen if he receives his work permit before the game although that looks very difficult, so Jürgen Klopp will have to think what to do in the midfield to avoid the mistakes that were made not only against Chelsea in the first matchday of the Premier League, but during the whole preseason.

The task for the German tactician ahead of tomorrow's match against Bournemouth is becoming more and more complicated, because in addition to the fact that Wataru Endo is not expected to make his debut yet, there are two players who have been ruled out by Jürgen Klopp himself and who will not be eligible to play in the Reds' debut at Anfield.

The two players ruled out

Jürgen Klopp detailed that Endo is already in the squad, but he does not know if he will be able to participate against Bournemouth, while he assured the absence of two other players. "Endo is now in, he's allowed to train this afternoon. If he's allowed to participate [in] the game tomorrow, I don't know. We will see (...) I'm told that Stefan Bajcetic is really close but not there yet, we really count on him," added Klopp. "Thiago Alcantara is in [training], but not there yet," Klopp assured.
