Liverpool struggled to find a striker after Luis Suarez's departure

Undoubtedly Luis Suarez is one of the best strikers Liverpool has had in its history, because although the Uruguayan striker was never able to win a really important trophy at Anfield, he delighted all the fans with great goals and during his stay at Liverpool he was projected as one of the best in the world in his position.

That is why when he left Liverpool and went to FC Barcelona in 2014, the Reds board struggled to find his replacement, although at first they did not think it would be so difficult, because that same year Liverpool signed the next great striker of world football, and even many claimed that he had better qualities than Suarez and could become better than him, but things did not turn out that way.

In that year, Liverpool spent 20 million euros to sign Mario Balotelli, who at that time was considered one of the most promising strikers in the world, but his career remained just that, in promises. Balotelli went on to sign big contracts with sponsors and different clubs throughout his career, but partying and alcohol got in the way of what many thought could be a very successful career and ended up being quite chaotic.

Balotelli's off-field problems prevented him from reaching his best level, as there is no doubt that he had the qualities to become an epochal striker, but he simply did not want to do it and now he is a forgotten player who plays in an unknown team and to whom no important club in Europe will open the doors again.

Where does Mario Balotelli currently play?

Mario Balotelli, after a fleeting and disappointing spell at Anfield, went through several teams, and whenever it seemed that his career would finally take off something happened. Finally, at 32 years of age, Balotelli plays for FC Sion in the Swiss second division, where he has not performed at a good level either and where he has less and less playing time.
