Undoubtedly Luis Suarez has been one of the best strikers to have played for Liverpool in the club's history. The Uruguayan showed his great ability to score all kinds of goals and made the fans fall in love with his excellent performances with the Reds shirt.

The Uruguayan striker played 2 and a half years at Anfield, time that was enough for him to be considered by many a legend of the club. During his stay at Liverpool Luis Suarez established himself as a complete striker, capable of scoring all kinds of goals and also aroused the interest of other major teams in Europe, as in 2014 he was signed by FC Barcelona where he was consecrated as the best striker in the world and conquered absolutely everything.

His departure left a big hole at Anfield, as finding a player with his characteristics was not easy. However, with his departure he left a large amount of money in the club's coffers, as Barcelona bought him for 81 million euros, money with which the Reds' board tried to sign his replacement.

A year after Suarez's departure and after the failure that the arrival of Mario Balotelli had meant, Liverpool's board signed Christian Benteke, a center forward who had great physical strength and had shown qualities that excited the fans, as they believed that the Belgian could be even better than Luis Suarez, for which the club paid 46.5 million euros to Aston Villa.

Benteke's disappointing numbers for Liverpool

Despite arriving at Anfield as a star reinforcement, Benteke was never able to establish himself at Liverpool. He played only 42 games in which he scored only 10 goals, a disappointing amount considering what was paid for him. His career seemed to take off when he left for Crystal Palace, but he eventually ended up moving to MLS where he currently plays for D.C. United.
