After Liverpool's victory in the Champions League, the Dutch defender didn't hesitate to talk to the press

After the Champions League victory on Tuesday night, Liverpool's top defender and Dutch National team star Virgil van Dijk spoke out to the press about what has happened at the beginning of the season and how he thinks some of the team's critics are just trying to get The Reds down. Even though the season is in its first weeks.

We must remember that Liverpool just came to this Champions League game after a harsh start in the best football competition in Europe. Napoli defeated The Reds by a score of 4-1 on the opening night. And after that, Liverpool's boss Jürgen Klopp decided to make three changes to the starting line-up for the game against Ajax.

This game showed that Klopp's team is still one of the best in Europe and the games prior have left the team uneased and ready to change strategies and attitued no matter the critics or atmosphere made by the press. In the end, Liverpool won with a late goal scored by center-back Joel Matip and now The Reds are in second place in Group A of the Champions League.

Shout out to the critics

Virgil van Dijk spoke to BT Sport after the game against Ajax and he didn't keep anything for himself: he throw some punches to Liverpool's critics. "Not listening to the outside world, that's the most important thing," he said. "It’s funny sometimes because there’s a lot of ex-football players and they know exactly what we go through, but they say a lot of things to try get us down."
