The match against Arsenal was an attractive game, as both teams put on a good show, with both teams having the chance to take the lead at any time on the scoreboard. The mood of the match was very high and all the players gave their all.

Reds captain Virgil Van Dijk had a great game, stopping the Gunners attack, making Gabriel Jesus come off the bench when he couldn't get past the Dutch defender, showing his high level and making it clear that he is one of the best in the world.

During referee Chris Kavanagh's decisions, captain Van Dijk could be seen on several occasions approaching the referee to complain about his bad decisions, however there is a short video circulating on social media, where Virgil can be seen gesturing to the referee that he had been drinking.

This has sparked endless comments, as some support the Dutchman in the face of his poor refereeing and bad decisions. But it may not end there, as the Reds captain could be punished for making such comments about the referee. So we will have to wait and see if there will be any retaliation against Van Dijk.

Virgil's closest precedent

Prior to this act that could have repercussions for Virgil Van Dijk, the Clockwork Orange captain has already been suspended this season for speaking ill of a referee when he was suspended for verbally assaulting referee John Brooks. After that Van Dijk was suspended for two matches, in addition to the suspension he suffered in this match. So this could be his second suspension so far this season.
