Manchester City and Liverpool's thrilling 1-1 Premier League draw left an unforgettable image that did not go unnoticed: the heated exchange between Pep Guardiola and Darwin Núñez captured the world's attention until Jürgen Klopp intervened. When referee Chris Kavanagh announced the end of the match, everything seemed to be going down to the traditional protocol greeting between the coaches: the Citizens' Catalan went to the German's section, but in the middle an unexpected fight broke out with the Reds' Uruguayan striker, who was on the substitutes' bench after being replaced by Harvey Elliott after 84 minutes.

The incident occurred at the end of the game when Guardiola went over to greet Nunez, and the player visibly expressed his displeasure, leading to a brief but intense verbal confrontation. Asked about it in the press room, Guardiola played down the altercation, stating that "nothing happened. Frustration? No, it's not frustration. I'm very happy," de-emphasising the incident. However, after his contact with the press, an insider tried to probe his reaction and Pep replied: "He's stronger than me.

In contrast, Klopp, trying to dilute the situation, admitted he did not understand what happened on the pitch. "I'm not sure I'm the right person to explain it without knowing 100 per cent of what happened because I didn't understand a word," said the Liverpool leader. He also emphasised the inherent competitiveness of both teams: "Pep wants to win; we want to win. Neither of us won, so obviously no one was really happy and these things can happen.

Klopp's humiliation

But there was one humiliation during the game from Klopp that few saw from Jurgen Klopp towards Guardiola. It was a swift kick-off move by the Liverpool players emulating the classic Guardiola style in what was a display of his own style of play. This was picked up by the Reds' social media and replicated in a video.
