The refereeing errors against Liverpool don't seem to stop in the Premier League and now in Tuesday's away match against Burnley there was another refereeing controversy with the referee Paul Tierney who, together with the video assistant, decided to disallow the goal of Dutch striker Cody Gakpo for a play that still has no explanation and that would have been worth the 2-0 for the Reds.
The Uruguayan Darwin Nunez broke his streak without being able to score and just after 6 minutes put the team led by German coach Jürgen Klopp ahead. It should be noted that it took 12 games and almost 700 minutes for the striker to get back on the scoreboard, as his last goal was on 1 November.
Minutes later Nunez himself was the protagonist of another play where Gakpo had scored the 2-0 with a good definition with his right foot after taking a powerful shot but the referee decided to disallow the goal and after being reviewed by the VAR pointed out an alleged fake by the Uruguayan although television replays show that there was no contact.
It should be remembered that just at the weekend's match against Arsenal there were also controversial plays that ended up affecting Liverpool in a game where there was also a clear penalty for a handball in the box that was not awarded to the Reds and which could have ended in a victory that would have given the team led by German coach Jürgen Klopp the lead.
