Liverpool was keen to use the transfer market this summer, to look for one player per side for this season. That market was particularly important because it was on World Cup year, and an atypical one since it will be played in December and not in June (as we were used to).
And the Reds searched all over the world for different types of players but in the end, they settled for an attacker who, in theory, would solve quite a few forceful problems that we saw in the UEFA Champions League final against Real Madrid. Darwin Nuñez is this attacker and he presented himself as a great option in attack.
Another Senegalese for Liverpool! The "New Mané" could arrive at Anfield
Another of Klopp's favorites to the bench!
But for the midfield, it almost seemed that there was no candidate to make it to the team. Something dangerous since Henderson no longer has the physique or level to start all the games, so on the last day of the transfers, Liverpool decided to hire Arthur from Juventus on loan.
However, on the short-list, there was a Jurgen Klopp fanatic, Pascal Gross. But the Brighton and Hove Albion player ruled out that signing saying “I look from game to game. We are going a good way at Brighton". Still seeing a possible move to Liverpool. Perhaps if Arthur had not arrived, the German player would now be Red.
