Midfielder predicts better times at Anfield

One of the most controversial players since his arrival at Liverpool in 2020 not only knew how to surf through the sea of criticism levelled at his football and the lack of chemistry he would have with the system of play regularly managed by manager Jurguen Klopp, but he was also able to find a way to contribute to the team and quickly become the amulet that attracted titles and finals at Anfield.

After two years in the team, Thiago Alcántara has almost completely minimised those criticisms that still linger around his injuries, demonstrating his quality every time he returns to the pitch by delivering near-perfect displays, as he did last week in the second round of the UEFA Champions League where his great footballing display in the midfield helped the Reds to that cathartic win against Ajax.

That kind of involvement from the Spanish-Brazilian has won the hearts of both the action and the club, who took it upon themselves to post on their official Instagram account a reminder of how Alcántara wore red to defend Liverpool two years ago.  The post didn't go unnoticed by the midfielder, who quickly reacted to his mention with a few brief words: "Best is yet to come!"

When Thiago's Liverpool contract expires in 2024, the midfielder will be 33 years old, an age that is not an impediment for him to continue playing as a starter in one of the most demanding clubs in Europe, as an example is the Real Madrid centre-back who is around the same age as the Spanish-Brazilian, and although Alcántara has suffered a lot from injuries, this is an issue that he has managed to overcome to the point of continuing to deliver his best version in a Reds team in need of good football.

Jurgen Klopp's side have had a difficult start to the season so far as they sit eighth in the table with nine points from a possible 18. The institution's poor form over the last eight games coincided with a spell on the sidelines for the midfielder who was injured in the opening game against Fulham last month, marking his return a relief for a Reds side looking to figure in the competitions and be serious contenders for all the titles in contention.
