Despite beating Ajax on Tuesday in the second round of the Champions League group stage with a last-minute goal from Joel Matip, Liverpool's momentum is not at its best. The Premier League did not start as expected, as the results on the pitch and the football have been marked by irregularity. Luis Diaz has been one of the most outstanding players, despite the low level of some of his teammates.

At the moment, Liverpool are in eighth place in the Premier League, with this weekend's match against Chelsea postponed due to the lack of police because of the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. His return to the field will take until 1 October when he hosts Brighton at Anfield, who are without a manager following Graham Potter's departure to Chelsea to replace Thomas Tuchel.

It's not just Liverpool who benefit from Luis Díaz's momentum

José Enrique, remembered for his time at Liverpool a few years ago, spoke of the Anfield side's current form, with few players currently standing out "Liverpool's problems are not just down to the full-backs. When you look at the whole team, only Alisson Becker, Luis Diaz and Harvey Eliot are playing well, everyone else is performing poorly".

Also, the former Spanish defender added about the differences in the squad compared to last season when they contested the Premier League title against Manchester City until the final day and lost the Champions League final to Real Madrid: "Liverpool have a worse team than they had last year, so it's not fair for people to expect Klopp to fight for the same trophies he fought for last year.

Liverpool break

Because of the suspension of Sunday's game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and the international break, Liverpool will have several days of inactivity so there are players who took holidays. One of those was the Colombian Luis Diaz who went to New York as a tourist with his family to report to the Colombia national team to play friendlies.
