The star signing of Uruguayan striker Darwin Núñez has yet to step up a gear and since Senegal's Sadio Mané left for Bayern Munich where he has fared badly, Egypt's Mohamed Salah has found it more difficult to create dangerous chances.

Defensively, things are also not kind, with centre-back Virgil van Dijk and full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold being heavily criticised for their constant lapses in concentration in defence that have made it difficult for the team on the pitch and have led to them dropping points. As a result, Jürgen Klopp has relied on Joe Gomez who has been outplayed and against Napoli had a game to forget.
