As the years go by, every sporting institution has to reinvent itself and look for that balance between experience and youth, being this the case of several clubs in Europe that are already looking in the transfer markets and youth categories for that new reference to deliver good numbers both in football and economically, having Liverpool at Anfield a prospect that could soon see his first appearances on the bench of the first team.

Layton Stewart is a 20-year-old youth striker who sadly missed 13 months of his career with a cruciate ligament injury last year, making a full recovery by April this 2022. The Briton was one of the best players not only in the under-18s, which he completely devoured, but was also starting to perform well in the under-23s' attack.

So far Stewart has three goals already this season; two in Premier League 2 and another in the Papa John's Trophy.  As his level rises, the young Briton will soon be hoping to return to his best form and shine in such a way that Jurgen Klopp will consider him for the not too distant future, with the first team and senior England squad being his primary objectives.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, the striker said that he would be looking forward to playing for England in the near future. com, the striker said that within the group there are people who are professional enough to help young players to stand out and put their careers on track for a bright future, seeing with good eyes the possibility that Klopp gives to young players to have a chance in the first team and demonstrate their qualities on the pitch, being a complicated task for Layton Stewart as the striker is a position that is rarely occupied by a youth player, besides the German coach has in his mind Darwin Nunez as that young prospect at Anfield.

Could compete for a spot with Darwin Núñez

For the time being, Layton will have to continue to progress through Liverpool's youth ranks and try to earn that goalscoring banner at Under-21 level, just as he did in the 2020-2021 season with the 18-year-olds.  The constant pressure of youth players looking for a chance in their first team and an extensive track record of sales to other institutions that bet on them, are the motivation they need and that has caused so many changes in European football in recent years.
