Martin Samuel reports that Jordan Henderson called Gabriel a "fucking idiot" which the Arsenal defender misheard and thought he had used a much worse Portuguese insult. This after the Arsenal defender accused the Liverpool captain of making a racist comment to him and prompted the FA to investigate the midfielder, although they found no responsibility and left him unpunished.
The English player was accused of possible racist insults against Gabriel Magalhaes after the match against Arsenal on 9 October. In the images, it is clearly shown how both players face each other and, after a few direct words from Henderson, Magalhaes walks away visibly offended while the rest of the players try to calm the Englishman down.

The Liverpool player's case, although not proven guilty, is by no means the first of its kind in English football, a clear example of which was the sanctioning of Kiko Casilla. During a Championship match with Leeds United, he was punished for making racist insults towards Charlton's Jonathan Leko. The punishment? An eight-match ban and a financial fine of 70,000 euros. Plus, of course, the disapproval of the club and the rest of the football world.
In the end, following an investigation by the FA, the player has been cleared of the charges and found not guilty. It seems that, sometimes, taking a knee and spreading one of the biggest campaigns in world football means nothing to players when the game gets tense.
Jordan Henderson was found not guilty of all charges relating to verbal assault or racist comments against Gabriel Magalhaes. It was claimed that none of the players had heard of Henderson's racist/offensive comments. Had Henderson's racist slur on Gabriel been true, the FA would have handed down an exemplary sanction to the Liverpool captain, but in the end the truth came out.
