One of the players who has been most strongly linked with a possible transfer to Anfield is 22-year-old French midfielder Khéphren Thuram, who currently plays for Nice in France's Ligue 1. Thanks to his good performances during the last season, Thuram has aroused the interest of big teams in Europe, among them our Liverpool, who for weeks now has been the team with the best chances of signing him.

However, everything seems to indicate that the negotiations between the Reds' board and their counterpart Nice have cooled down and it was even reported that Jürgen Klopp's interest in the player had diminished, but in reality it was not like that. What really happened is that the price asked by the French club to sell Khéphren would be too high, as they would be asking for 50 million euros.

That is why Liverpool would have preferred to wait to see if the price would go down, also waiting for some indication of the French midfielder to know if he would really be interested in coming to Anfield this summer, something that until a few days ago everyone took for granted, but apparently it would not be so.

And according to several recent reports, there is another reason why Liverpool's negotiations to sign Khéphren Thuram would have stopped, and it would be the same reason why other clubs like FC Bayern and Borussia Dortmund, who had also shown interest in him, would have decided not to pursue his signature.

Khéphren Thuram's reason for not joining another team

According to reports in the French press, Khéphren Thuram has decided to stay at Nice for at least one more season, as he believes that by playing in France on a recurring basis, he would have a better chance of earning a place in the national team for Euro 2024.
