The reason Liverpool would not lose the race for Lavia to Chelsea and it's not money

The saga of Moises Caicedo, who will finally join Chelsea after refusing to come to Anfield when Liverpool's board was willing to pay £110 million to Brighton for him, is finally over. However, the Reds already have their plan B, as they would now return for Romeo Lavia for whom they have already made three bids to sign him.

However, Southampton were adamant about the minimum amount they would offer to let the 19-year-old Belgian defensive midfielder leave and that is £50M, a figure that a few weeks ago Liverpool seemed unwilling to pay, however given what has happened in recent days with Caicedo, it seems that not only will they pay what the Saints were originally asking for, but they may have to pay even more.

Several journalists, including the renowned Dave Ockop, have reported and confirmed Chelsea's interest in signing Romeo Lavia, even after they already secured the arrival of Moises Caicedo. Reports claim that the Blues would be willing to offer £55 million to Southampton to close the deal and several media have assured that thanks to this Chelsea would be the favorite team to take Lavia, however this might not be the case and precisely because of an economic issue.

According to several sources, although Chelsea could reach an agreement for the price of Romeo Lavia with Southampton, it is reported that the player's priority is to get to Anfield so he would wait for Liverpool to make an offer that is accepted by his club to join the Reds.
