Liverpool will be one of the most closely watched clubs during the close of the summer transfer window as the Anfield board are reportedly working to bring in at least a couple of players before the end of the transfer window and Jürgen Klopp's priorities would be two: a midfielder and a defender.
Knowing this, that Liverpool's board and Klopp's intention is to buy, it is virtually certain that a first-team player will leave the club in the next few days. However, it seems that Joe Gomez has attracted interest from a number of clubs and that the player himself is not entirely closed to the possibility of leaving Anfield this summer.
A few hours ago it was reported that Al-Ittihad, the same club that snapped up Fabinho and have been desperate to sign Mohamed Salah, are reportedly interested in Gomez. But apparently they are not the only ones, as it has emerged that West Ham have also been discussing internally the possibility of making a bid for our Liverpool defender in the face of the Hammers' inability to sign Harry Maguire.
Given this, it seems that Liverpool's stance is clear and forceful: there will be no more first team departures this summer. And it is illogical to think that, faced with the need to sign, the board would now accept an offer for a first team player, but Joe Gomez might think differently and this is the reason why he might consider leaving Anfield this summer.
According to Times Sport, Joe Gomez would not be happy with his current role at Liverpool, as it became clear in the weekend's game against Newcastle that Gomez is the fourth option for Jürgen Klopp, something that would not keep the 26-year-old English defender happy, who according to the aforementioned media wants to have more minutes to be considered in the England squad for Euro 2024.
