This summer has been full of rumors and speculation about players who could join our Liverpool, and the reality is that so far we have only been able to finalize the arrival of two players who, although they are very good, fall short of the needs that the squad has.

One of the main candidates who was strongly linked to Liverpool this summer was Khéphren Thuram, the 22-year-old French midfielder who plays for Nice. It was reported in various media that Thuram was one of Jürgen Klopp's priority targets to reinforce the midfield and there were even negotiations between the Anfield board and Nice to agree on a transfer fee.

In addition, it was mentioned that Thuram's father, the legendary Lilian Thuram, had advised his son to sign for Liverpool this summer. However, in the end Khéphren will stay at least one more season in the French league and journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed the real reason why Thuram's move to Liverpool fell through this summer.

The reason

According to Fabrizio Romano, speaking to Born 'n Red, negotiations between Liverpool and Nice fell through because the asking price for Khéphren Thuram was too high for the Reds, estimated at £40 million. In addition, he also claimed that Thuram's financial demands were also too high.
