Since the end of the 2022-2023 season, the Liverpool board and our manager, Jürgen Klopp, decided that the priority for the transfer market would be to sign midfielders, more specifically young midfielders, capable of making an immediate contribution to the club, but also of being part of the team's long-term project.
That is why, in a matter of a couple of weeks, Liverpool's board managed to finalize the signing of Alexis Mac Allister. The 24-year-old Argentine midfielder would be one of the most important players for the future in Klopp's scheme, and he will arrive at Anfield with a great expectation on his shoulders as he is not only the star reinforcement of this summer, but he will also have to lead the team's new project.
However, despite the arrival of Mac Allister, the board has struggled to finalize a second signing, although several rumors suggest that it is only a matter of time before a new player arrives, who could come from the long list of names that are currently being considered as possibilities for the Reds.
One of the names that attracts the most attention, particularly because of his age and his price on the market is that of Arda Güler, an 18-year-old Turkish midfielder currently valued at 15 million euros. A player of that price and age, can hardly arouse the interest of our Liverpool, but everything seems to indicate that Jürgen Klopp believes that it could be a diamond in the rough, and apparently he is not the only one who thinks so, as Real Madrid and FC Barcelona would also have a great interest in him.
In an interview for the Catalan TV channel TV3, the president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, assured that his recruiting department is already working to secure the signing of Arda Güler. "Our scouting department was following Arda. We also have Deco's opinion. We are trying to complete the deal for next year.", he said.
