The press has been harping on Jürgen Klopp and Liverpool for their performance against Nottingham Forest in the last Premier League fixture. The team was lacklustre and uninspired, and it showed in the 1-0 loss. But despite the poor showing, Liverpool did not get far away in their ambitions to qualify for European competitions. But not by own merit, since Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham dropped points on the weekend.
Liverpool's performance against Nottingham Forest was very shallow. Although they were able to control the game and create chances, they missed the most important thing in a football match: a goal. But, overall, it was a good performance from Liverpool. But the press has been highly critical of Klopp's performance this season, with many claiming that is time to move on and part ways with the Premier League side.
The reason Liverpool are underperforming that no one is talking about
This was Klopp's reaction after being attacked and called ‘Mr Mentality Monster’
They have pointed to Liverpool's poor run of form this season, their epic fails in the Champions League and their dropping point games in the Premier League as evidence that Klopp's time in Anfield is over. However, it is worth noting that Liverpool has only lost four games all season, and is currently just five points away from European competition in the Premier League table. Furthermore, they did reach the final of the Champions League last season, which it's clear that Klopp is capable of guiding them to success.
Jamie O'Hara when onto talkSport and ranted about Liverpool's performance against Nottingham Forest, "I get that, but this is a team, a squad, that was competing with Manchester City for three or four seasons. Now I am looking at it thinking ‘Alright you have picked up a few injuries and your team looks like a Championship side.” Nonetheless, it's too soon to have any conclusions, the truth is we will have to wait until after the World Cup to qualify for Liverpool's season.
