Lavia announced as Chelsea player

The main reason why the Belgian midfielder opted for Chelsea rather than the Reds was revealed. Romeo Lavia, a 19-year-old midfielder, has been on the radar of big Premier League clubs. Originally from Southampton, his talent has not gone unnoticed, with the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea bidding heavily for him. Finally, it looks like Stamford Bridge will be his next home, with a £53m deal plus £5m in add-ons. Liverpool, under Jurgen Klopp, have been looking to strengthen their midfield, especially after the departure of key figures such as Jordan Henderson and Fabinho and were interested in Lavia.

The Anfield side made three bids for Romeo, going as high as £45m. However, their negotiating tactics, which some consider slow, appear to have worked against them. Chelsea, managed by Mauricio Pochettino, have shown a decided interest in Lavia. The £53m offer, coupled with the chance to join a team on the rise, appears to have been enough to convince the young Belgian. Sources close to Lavia have expressed surprise at Liverpool's tactics, suggesting the midfielder may have felt like a 'second choice' for Klopp's side.

Not only Liverpool and Chelsea have shown interest in Lavia. Manchester City, with whom Lavia had a previous deal, will benefit from this transfer, receiving 20% of the final fee due to a resale clause. Despite Southampton's relegation, Lavia has proved his worth in the Premier League and is now ready to face new challenges.

<strong>Karma</strong>

With his imminent arrival at Chelsea, Lavia has the opportunity to shine at one of the most prestigious clubs in England and Europe. His talent and determination will be crucial for Pochettino's team next season. However, the karma he could face is that Romeo Lavia would not have the proto-agagonist role he had hoped for now, with only Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo playing in midfield.
