The season did not start well at Molineux Stadium. The lack of reinforcements caused Julen Lopetegui to make an early exit three days before the start of the Premiership. Bookmakers were tipping Wolverhampton to be relegated alongside Luton Town and Sheffield United. However, the Wolves, with Gary O'Neil on the bench, managed to put a scare into a Liverpool side that ended up winning 1-3? but with much more trouble than the scoreline indicated. Salah, once again, led the comeback. Klopp's side (13 points) now lead the Premiership as they await the progress of City (12), Tottenham (10), Arsenal (10) and West Ham (10).

The Reds struggled to return from the international break. Pedro Neto made the most of it. The Portuguese winger 'brought the 'Pool' to its knees' in a first half full of 'highlights'. His 'masterpiece' led to the 1-0, in the 7th minute. Neto started in midfield, on the left flank, began to throw bicycles until he got between Szoboszlai, Joe Gomez and Matip and delivered a cross to the far post that Hwang Hee-Chan finished off with a delightful finish. The Korean has started on fire: he has scored three goals in the Premier League, the same number he scored in the whole of last season.

The equaliser came, strangely enough, shortly after the changing rooms. Jürgen Klopp made a change - taking off Mac Allister to bring on Luis Díaz - and the change suited the Reds. Diogo Jota turned a split ball into an assist for Salah and Cody Gakpo took advantage of the Egyptian's cross to push the ball almost over the line in the 55th minute. The 'Pharaoh' has no end: between goals scored (139) and assists (61) he has contributed directly to 200 Premiership goals in 223 games. Only Thierry Henry (206) needed less according to Opta.

The second half was a Liverpool monologue, with Wolverhampton completely locked in their area. José Sá delayed the Reds' victory by saving a one-on-one with Darwin Núñez, after a nice one-on-one with Luis Díaz, in the 70th minute. The Reds' victory was finally sealed in the 85th minute, when José Sá's goal kick was poorly taken, too hastily. Captain Robertson recovered the ball and went on the attack like a madman, he combined with Salah and 'The Pharaoh' played an exquisite pass with the outside for the Scottish full-back, coming from behind, to score the definitive 1-2. The image not seen on television was the scream of the Traveling Kop fans at Andy Robertson's goal.
