This Sunday, Anfield will see a new chapter of the clash that has given so much excitement to English football in the last five years: Liverpool and Manchester City star in the highlight of the tenth round of the Premier League. Pep Guardiola and Jürgen Klopp meet again. In recent years, both teams have been fighting for every domestic title beyond the English league (FA Cup, League Cup and Community Shield) as well as being contenders for the European throne.
However, for this match they arrive with very different realities. With a beastly Erling Haaland, the Citizens are fighting at the top of the table just one point behind leaders Arsenal. Meanwhile, the Reds have not had the best start to the season. In fact, oddly enough, they are closer to the relegation places than they are to the top of the Premiership. Their 10 points leave them in tenth place.

On the other side of the side-lines that mark the pitch, two coaches who have already become a classic will face each other. Guardiola and Klopp, moreover, already knew each other from the Bundesliga when they managed Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, respectively. On either side of them will be the substitutes, who will be eagerly awaiting their minutes on the pitch. In that sense, according to Opta data, the Spanish coach made 37 changes so far in the Premier League (almost four per game), while the German made 34.
The most recent meeting between the two was at Leicester's King Power Stadium, where Liverpool beat Manchester City 3-1 to lift the Community Shield. Julián Álvarez and Darwin Núñez, who will be looking for their moment of Premiership glory on Sunday, proved their worth in that match. Adding Germany and England together, Guardiola and Klopp have met 25 times, with nine wins for the Spaniard, eleven for the German and the remaining five draws.
Jürgen Klopp praised his team's performance and particularly that of Mohamed Salah in Liverpool's 7-1 win over Rangers. The manager spoke at a press conference and detailed his feelings after a big win. "We had a really positive half-time talk. We wanted more in the second half. Clearly, it worked. Today's game was special, particularly Mo. It was very important how we adapted to the positions, to the line-up," said the coach.
