Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez played just one minute in Saturday's 3-3 draw between Liverpool and Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield Road in the Premier League. This has also sparked all kinds of comments in England, especially considering that manager Jurgen Klopp, who asked for his contract and who is the most expensive in the club's history, for 100 million euros, made him play only that minute plus the addition.

Darwin Nunez could face an extended period out of Liverpool's starting line-up as he struggles to earn Klopp's trust. According to former Leeds United striker Noel Whelan, after the Uruguay international was once again omitted from the team and only came on at the end, it says a lot about how the current Reds boss feels.

"It says a lot that Nunez didn't come in until the last minute," Whelan told Football Insider. "If Klopp had had confidence in him and believed he could score the winning goal, he would have brought him on earlier," he opined. England's The Mirror reports on Sunday what the insults from the Brighton fans were to the Uruguayan, who somehow took the piss out of him for playing just 1 minute.

"Darwin Nunez suffers more misery when Brighton fans sing a brutal chant at him," headlined the English media. The 23-year-old was unable to help his team to a much-needed win and was instead taunted by the visiting fans," it said, among other things.

Darwin Núnez compared to Andy Carroll

It adds: "The Seagulls faithful could be heard chanting: 'You're just shit like Andy Carroll' in extra time, referring to the former Liverpool striker - Luis Suarez's team-mate - who had a very bad time at the club after being signed for 40 million euros in January 2011, far more than the club paid for the Uruguayan, who performed far better for the Reds.
