Luis Diaz overcame a ligament strain in his left knee and returned to training with Liverpool, who had their first day of pre-season in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Colombian was one of the main new additions to Jurgen Klopp's squad after missing the end of the Premier League season following an injury suffered against Arsenal in October.
The Colombian striker chose the Colombian Federation's sports centre in Barranquilla to undergo physiotherapy work and be close to his family. This is the first time that the striker has missed games with the English side since his arrival in February 2022. So far in the 2022-2023 season, Diaz has made 12 appearances, scored two goals and made four assists. In his social media accounts, he expressed his delight at being back on the pitch.

The Colombian-born player has been absent for six Premier League games: vs. Manchester City (Oct. 16), vs. West Ham (Oct. 19), vs. Nottingham Forest (Oct. 22), vs. Leeds United (Oct. 29) and vs. Tottenham Hotspur (Nov. 6) and Southampton (Nov. 12). He also sat out the League Cup match against Derby County.
Liverpool will play two friendly matches in Dubai on 11 and 16 December as part of their preparations for the second half of the season in Europe. These will be against Olympique Lyon of France and AC Milan of Italy. The Reds will return to competitive action on 22 December against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup, before the Premier League gets back underway at Aston Villa on Boxing Day.
