While many managers in European football are judged harshly, things have been very different on Merseyside for Jurgen Klopp

While many managers in European football are judged harshly by the top brass of their clubs to the point of being sacked along the way, on Merseyside things have been very different for Jurgen Klopp throughout the 2022-2023 season, as the German manager, despite the blunders that have seen Liverpool finish ninth in the Premier League, is not at stake, being backed to the point of being permissive of the negative results along the way.

It is true that a bad season for Liverpool does not equate to all those achievements that Klopp has had with his team since his arrival a few years ago, being surely that resounding success what today gives credibility to his work and will surely keep him on the bench at Anfield even if the results are not optimal in the remainder of the season, being very clear to the German coach that today the top management is making an almost unrepeatable exception.

As well as Klopp himself knowing about the backing from his bosses, the German-born man revealed that Cody Cakpo will be the one man they will be looking to raise their game and try to dig themselves out of the hole they are in at the moment, making it clear that their next target for investment will be Jude Bellingham. "I was told that after Gakpo there are no big transfers planned this month, at this stage. 100 % focus on Bellingham!".

Klopp wants to stay

As unbelievable as it may seem today that the top brass gave Klopp their backing even with his poor results, they themselves know that the manager is doing the best he can with the players at his disposal, with Klopp being wrong about the recruitment of Darwin Nunez and playing strategies, while the men in long trousers erred in not having a big recruitment plan in place for the summer of 2022 to be competitive with the other leaders in Europe.
