At last it seems that Liverpool and its fans can smile after weeks of no good news regarding the summer transfer market, as our club's last signing was made almost a month ago now when the Anfield board paid RB Leipzig €70 million to sign Dominik Szoboszlai.

Since then, the team has suffered several departures, including two that really unbalanced the team for the upcoming season, as both Jordan Henderson and Fabinho were considered a fundamental part of the squad in Jürgen Klopp's planning. However, both were seduced by the exorbitant salaries offered by the Saudi Arabian league and decided to end their respective cycles at Anfield after having won everything with the team.

If Liverpool already had the need to sign midfielders this summer, the departures of Henderson and Fabinho turned that need into urgency, because now that area of the field looks very thin and although both Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai promise to be good reinforcements, they do not seem to be enough to face a season in which the Reds will seek to reverse the failure of the last campaign in which we failed to finish in the top four of the Premier League.

Currently, Liverpool's priority seems to be to sign Romeo Lavia, the 19-year-old Belgian defensive midfielder for whom the Anfield board has already launched three bids, and although it seems that Southampton are reluctant to lower their £50 million price tag, everything seems to indicate that in the end Lavia will be Liverpool's new player and Klopp has already received good news about it.

What is the good news?

The Championship, the second division of English football in which Southampton will play after being relegated last season, has started. Even without a full agreement between Liverpool and Southampton's management, Romeo Lavia was expected to play in the first game of the season, but it was not the case and the Belgian defensive midfielder was left on the bench for the whole game. This is a good sign for our Liverpool, as it means that Southampton does not want to risk Lavia getting injured and the transfer, which is apparently very close to completion, falling through.
