After last season's failure to qualify for the next edition of the Champions League, many fans began to look for the culprits and one of the most heard names was that of our captain, Jordan Henderson, who has received a lot of criticism due to his performance in the previous campaign.
Henderson has been one of the most important players in Jürgen Klopp's scheme in recent years, as it is not for nothing that he is the captain of the team. However, it is undeniable that, like other players, Henderson did not have his best season in 2022-2023 and that is why many rumors have begun to circulate regarding his future, especially taking into account the intentions of our Liverpool facing the transfer market.
After the disappointment of last season, Klopp has decided that it is time to rejuvenate the squad and his top priority would be to strengthen the midfield of the team. That is why the board made official the signing of Alexis Mac Allister and is already looking for at least two more midfielders to strengthen that area of the pitch, which would result in fewer minutes for Jordan Henderson next season.
Another player who changed his role at the end of the previous season was Trent Alexander-Arnold, who moved from right back to midfield, with the intention of freeing him up from defensive duties. TAA seemed to work well in that new role, however that could have negative consequences on Henderson, as he would be one more player in the midfield, meaning less playing opportunities for him.
During the last few international matches, Alexander-Arnold played as a midfielder for England, but Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler said that TAA "doesn't need to change his game drastically to get minutes for Liverpool or the England national team. If Jürgen Klopp decides to follow Fowler's advice, that could mean more playing time for Jordan Henderson next season.
