Ismael Bennacer the latter, though, might soon be off-limits due to events in Italy, despite rumours that Bennacer would leave the defending Serie A champions shortly, Milan are now hopeful of signing the 25-year-old to a new contract, and that might happen sooner rather than later, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport,

The international player from Algeria's current deal expires in 2024. 

In order for Milan to receive a respectable transfer fee, they would have to sell him no later than next summer. At Milan, Bennacer presently makes €1.5 million (£1.3 million) a season. According to the source, his new contract guarantees that he will receive €4 million (£3.5 million) per season in addition to bonuses.

The gifted midfielder joined the San Siro in 2019 after leaving Empoli, Also rumoured to be interested in Bennacer is Manchester United, the need for a midfielder in Liverpool, though, has always been higher, and according to Corriere Dello Sport through the Liverpool Echo, the Reds may have made an approach to sign Bennacer, the source doesn't specify whether that is for the summer or the January window, though.
