Liverpool struggled in midfield since the summer transfer window

The Uruguayan international midfielder, Federico Valverde, has become in a very short time one of the mainstays of Real Madrid under Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti, entering into that select group of fashionable players around the world that any top team in Europe would like to have, as happened with Liverpool who were interested in the Merengue player a few days before the end of the summer transfer window.

The AS newspaper explains that the Anfield institution was very interested in the Uruguayan player, especially in the final days of the transfer window where no experienced midfielder of good football had arrived at Liverpool, stating that the English had put 100 million euros on the table to try to sign him. This offer was immediately rejected by a Real Madrid side who would never consider selling one of their most media-friendly players.

After the resounding failure to bring in the Uruguayan international, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had no other option but to continue looking for an option to reinforce the midfield that had been so badly damaged by injuries and the abrupt drop in the level of some players, finding on the last day the option of Arthur Melo from Italy, with Juventus saving the Reds from wanting Fede Valverde in their ranks.

On a couple of occasions, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez himself has acknowledged that different teams year after year have bid for some of his players who are immovable from Madrid and would not feature in the transfer market. Valverde is the most recent case in point, with Los Blancos having turned down the large sum of money offered by Liverpool a few weeks ago.

How would Valverde help?

Many of Liverpool's current problems would have been solved with the arrival of Federico Valverde, which is why the large sum of money and the insistence of Madrid was understandable. Now the Reds will have the Brazilian midfielder for a year in their ranks, seeking with his help to recover a midfield sector that has suffered so much damage in this 2022, knowing full well that winter will be their last chance of the season to rebuild that sector.
