Diogo Jota's third season with Liverpool FC is underway, and now, with Sadio Mané and Divock Origi not being in the club anymore, he will have to embrace the role of an experienced player and will have to step up his numbers, that they are already good, but he will need to become the player Liverpool needs when things aren't going that well.
Liverpool's first preseason game will be against a club that is no longer a big rival
The portuguese international talked with LiverpoolFC.com about this preseason in Asia, which will begin on tuesday with a friendly match between the reds and Manchester United, and he talked about being a senior on the team: “Of course that allows me to be one of the senior players, with that comes extra responsibility as well but I think that I am ready for that.”
He also talked about the injury he suffered recently: “Yeah, a hamstring injury [in] the last game with Portugal – very unlucky! But it happened and I just had the summer to recover well and start the pre-season at 100 per cent.”
Liverpool finished second in Premier League and in Champions League, although it was a good season, the team wants more and this is what Jota had to say: “Hopefully similar. Of course I always give my best. Things do not always go as you hope but there is a big season ahead – like I said, many games so hopefully I can be on the scoresheet often and that’s what I want: to help the team and score goals so we can win football matches.”
