Having failed to make any major strategic changes with the departure of Henderson and Fabinho as well as the arrivals of Mac Allister and Szoboszlai, the team's performance this season only seems to have polished up from last season, with the improvement in midfield being noticeable and could soon see its first major change with the possible arrival of Japanese midfielder Wataru Endo.
Although negotiations with the player and with Stuttgar are still ongoing, assumptions have begun to emerge as to the team's new look with the addition of this midfielder, and after the German coach played against Chelsea with the Dutchman Cody Gakpo in a line of three in the midfield, it is said that the rearrangement with the Yokohama native would change a few things.
If Klopp were to stick with a three-man midfield, Gakpo's involvement would become null and void, with only a classic 4-4-2 formation giving him a chance to play on the left. But in a similar formation to the one presented against Chelsea, Cody would come off the bench as a natural replacement for Lucho Diaz in the second half.
With his constant involvement in midfield at risk with the arrival of this latest addition, Gakpo will have to compete hard to take the place of Luis Diaz who, having put behind him the endless injuries that dogged him last season, is finally back to his usual Lucho self, scoring the opening goal at Stamford Bridge on Matchday 1.
