Liverpool's main need in the current transfer market is to get midfielders, because after the multiple departures of players in that position, Jürgen Klopp has prioritized the arrival of players to fill those positions. To do so, he has a list of names of possible candidates that could reinforce the squad, but to obtain them he will have to compete against other teams.

Recently Liverpool managed to secure the arrival of its first reinforcement, Alexis Mac Allister, who after a fantastic season with both the national team and his team, won the World Cup in Qatar 2022 and qualified for European competitions with Brighton.  However, following his arrival it was said that Mac Allister would be just the first of several players to arrive at Anfield for the upcoming campaign.

Klopp is already working to bring in his second signing, and one of the leading candidates is 26-year-old Italian midfielder Nicolo Barella, who was present at the Champions League final between Inter Milan and Manchester City. Barella has become one of the most important players for the Nerazzurri club and that is why he has aroused the interest of several teams around Europe.

In that sense, Klopp and the Liverpool board had planned to contact Inter Milan to inquire about the availability of Barella, who is worth 70 million euros according to the Transfermarkt portal. However, all indications are that another team is already on the verge of signing him.

Where will Barella play next season?

Several media have reported that Nicolo Barella is aware of Liverpool's interest in signing him, however the offer made by Newcastle United, which would be around 58 million euros, would have convinced Inter Milan. In addition, it has been reported that Barella has already accepted to be part of the Magpies' project that will play Champions League next season.
