Despite being the owner of one of the most powerful clubs on the planet, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, president of PSG and owner of Qatar Sports Investment Group, wants to expand his horizons and is looking to acquire even a part of one of the teams in what is considered to be the best league in the world. According to Sky Sports, the Parisian club's owner met with Daniel Levy, who owns Tottenham Hottspur, and with whom he was seeking a minority stake in the London club.
Despite this, Spurs denied the meeting. CBS claims that meetings took place last week and that while everything is at a very early stage, the move should be seen as Doha's first step towards a move to the world's top league. Al-Khelaifi's plan is to build an empire similar to that of City Football Group, which has expanded with clubs in England, Australia, the United States, Spain, Japan, Uruguay, Brazil, etc.
The fear that only Liverpool can produce in the Premier League
Cristiano Ronaldo cries again, latest humiliation to come from Liverpool
Just a few months ago, Manchester United and Liverpool, Premier League clubs with American owners, announced that they were putting their clubs up for sale, which represents an opportunity for the sheikh of the Parisians. The Red Devils' fans have called for a change of ownership because they are unhappy with the Glazers, to the extent of continually protesting to remove them from power. Despite this, according to CBS Sports, Al Khelaifi has not yet had a meeting with the current owners of the two Premier League giants.
The PSG owner wants to bring Qatar into the world of the Premier League, where two of his biggest competitors (Saudi Arabia with Newcastle and the United Arab Emirates with Manchester City) have already arrived.
For Mbappé to arrive at Anfield is 400 million euros for an eventual exit of the Frenchman. Undoubtedly this insane price tag means that very few clubs in the world could afford it. The Reds would have to make a huge effort to raise that sum, either by selling big superstars, or with a financial injection from new owners or sponsors to help The Pool in the second half of the season.
