It's been a busy summer on Merseyside

It's been a busy summer on Merseyside. The weather is bad for the summer and Liverpool are in the midst of a big turnaround. The Reds are still searching for midfield players and the deal for Romeo Lavia has yet to materialise. According to the Daily Mail, Jorg Schmadtke, the club's new sporting director, has set his sights on Joao Palhinha (Fulham) and Cheick Doucoure (Crystal Palace).

As in the case of the Belgian, both already have extensive Premier League experience. Considering the transfer inflation in English football, neither option will come cheap. But the league starts next Friday and Liverpool need solutions now. That is why they have accelerated their efforts to convince Southampton to sign the midfielder.

With just days to go before the Premier League kicks off, Liverpool have only had two reinforcements in Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, despite initial talk that the team was to be rebuilt, but this has so far not happened.

<strong>The culprit</strong>

In this regard, the Spanish Anfield Twitter account has pointed to Jorg Schmadtke as being responsible for the fact that more players have not arrived: He paid the clause for Mac Allister. Paid the clause for Szoboszlai. He has made three offers for Lavia, all of them rejected. All this while half the squad has left, currently the smallest squad in the Premiership.
