Mohamed Salah scored a goal to open the door to Liverpool's 2-1 comeback win over Crystal Palace on Matchday 16 of the Premier League and write a golden chapter. The Egyptian striker reached 200 goals and counting in a Reds uniform in all competitions and is the fifth player in the team's history to reach that mark. Ian Rush leads the way with 346 goals.

The 31-year-old also moved into tenth place among England's all-time leading scorers with 150 goals. Alan Shearer is in first place with 260 goals. Harvey Elliott wrapped up the win by scoring in the 91st minute and Liverpool moved to 37 points to fight their way to the top of the table. Salah arrived in the Premiership in 2013 and had a fleeting spell with Chelsea, then moved to Italy with Fiorentina and Roma, but established himself with Liverpool, signing for them in June 2017.

"I see similarities" with Liverpool FC of the 2019-2020 season, champions of England ahead of Manchester City, Salah told English broadcaster TNT Sports' cameras, citing "the mentality to keep fighting until the end" as a commonality. "We have a new team, with six or seven new players in the starting XI" on Saturday, but the older players "give advice" and they "learn a lot", Salah added. "We can do something special this year," he concluded.

The new nickname

After this new record, Mohamed Salah was the subject of a photo posted on Liverpool's social media channels holding a shirt with his name and the number 200 on it. In the comments on Instagram, a response appeared from Alexis Mac Allister naming the Egyptian as Momito, which is the new nickname he has been given after his goalscoring record.
