Amara Diouf, 15 years and 94 days old, became the youngest player to represent Senegal in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda. With the score at 1-1, he even came close to scoring. Diouf currently plays for Generation Foot academy, the Senegalese league team where Sadio Mané started out.

With a great track record at youth level in his country, Diouf was the top scorer at the 2023 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, scoring five goals and helping Senegal win the title before being selected by coach Aliou Cisse for the senior national team. Diouf, the Senegal U-17 captain, came on in the 70th minute and came close to scoring in the 81st minute but was denied by Rwanda goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari. Senegal settled for a 1-1 draw against Rwanda.

"The first of many appearances for the youngster, who has certainly impressed in a star-studded Senegal team heading to Côte d'Ivoire as defending CAF Africa Cup of Nations champions," the Confederation of African Football (CAF) wrote in a statement. Senegal lead Africa Cup of Nations qualifying Group L with 14 points from six matches.
