Since the end of the 2022-2023 season, Liverpool's board and Jürgen Klopp set the objective of reinforcing the team during the summer transfer window, especially the midfield, as the German manager considered that it was the area of the pitch that most needed to be reinforced.

In that sense, it is important to remember that already this summer we had three departures of players in the midfield, players who in the past had been very important for the success of the team. James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain were part of the club for several years and were present in the last golden era of the team, however Klopp considered that their time at Anfield was over and so they left as free agents.

For that reason the Reds board started working on signings and so far they have managed to finalize two signings. Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai are officially new Liverpool players, both arriving with great expectation as they have excited fans due to the good performances they had for their former teams last season.

However, it seems that Liverpool will not be satisfied with those two reinforcements and everything seems to indicate that they would already be working to get their third reinforcement of the summer. Two players who have been strongly linked with a possible arrival at Anfield have been Khéphren Thuram and Manu Koné, two young midfielders who are considered the future of the France national team, although the latest information indicates that it will not be either of them who would become the third reinforcement of our club.

Who does Klopp want to reinforce the midfield?

According to the journalist Paul Joyce, from The Times, Romeo Lavia would be the natural candidate to complete Liverpool's new midfield, as he is a player with characteristics that would better adapt to the game of Mac Allister and Szoboszlai.
