Naby Keita's future is up in the air, but a date is set for a final discussion

Liverpool's attempts to thrash out a new contract with Naby Keita are on hold due to they haven't reached a new agreement according to multiple reports. The Reds have been locked in talks with the 27-year-old's representatives over a deal that would see him as Red for more years.

Naby Keita joined the Reds in 2018 from RB Leipzig and has since become an irregular player for the club. Keita hasn't been in good form this season, he hasn't even played a single game yet due to a hamstring injury. But when he is fit, his performances have helped Liverpool to the top of the table.

However, Keita's future at Liverpool is unclear. His contract expires in 2023, and there have been no discussions about a new deal as yet. This has led to speculation that Keita could be out for free this summer, with Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle as two potential destinations. For now, he remains a Liverpool player and will be hoping to help the Reds this season. 

Naby Keita's current contract with Liverpool runs until 2023 and is worth €32 million. The Guinea international's discussions over a new deal are thought to be on hold at the moment, but it is hoped that they will resume soon. Firstly, Keita's camp is said to be very unhappy with how Liverpool's manager didn't use him when he was available. Also, it's believed the English club finally set a date for the final discussion of his contract, January just after the World Cup. Secondly, Keita himself is said to be keen on a move far away from Liverpool. It's thought that Keita would prefer a move to Germany over any other destination.
