The French World Cup winner was keen to play at Anfield

The fire created at PSG already had enough wood to burn... but Kylian organised a public event with his foundation (Rencontres inspirantes) in Nimes. As if there wasn't enough material for his case to burn. The Frenchman was asked, directly, about Liverpool or Real Madrid and his face says it all when he hears the name of the white team. Mbappé is not hiding and, although he was not at Las Ventas with Sergio Ramos and Keylor Navas on Columbus Day, he was in Nimes, in his native France, at an event organised by his foundation.

At the Rencontres inspirantes, Mbappé was surrounded by Fayza Lamari (his mother) and also by Wilfried Mbappé (his father), the other two major players in the soap opera. "Liverpool or Real Madrid?" And Mbappé, unsurprisingly, was told Real Madrid's name. "Liverpool or Real Madrid?" the children who were there to see their great idol questioned him. "Liverpool or Real Madrid," the presenter repeated. "I understand that he is only going to answer questions about his journey to reach the top, but he won't answer questions about football.

They commented on Mbappé's complicit smile and gestures that betrayed a lot of nervousness in him, even though he was quick to drop the microphone and give it back to him, making it clear that he would not speak. Liverpool, unlike Real Madrid, have indeed reopened negotiations to try to sign Kylian Mbappé after his desire to leave the Parisian club as soon as possible. According to 'Le Parisien', the English club are the favourites to land the French striker provided PSG open the door to a sale by letting the player go.

Liverpool would be willing to pay a transfer fee of around €150m for Mbappé but would only be able to afford the deal at the end of the season during the summer transfer window. Mbappé has already asked to leave PSG and wants to leave as soon as possible but his contract and PSG's demands make it virtually impossible to fulfil his wishes. The Parisian club seems to be starting to get fed up with the player's demands and would open the doors to him, but only if they can make a profit. From France there is talk of a price of 300 million euros for his sale, an impossible figure for any European club as, in addition, they would have to assume the player's multi-million euro fee. Mbappé is currently the highest paid player in the world after last summer's renewal.

Liverpool willing to pay anything for Mbappé

Liverpool have been in contact with Mbappé's entourage and believe the time is right to sign him provided the financial conditions are right. Mbappé would have to reduce his salary to join a more reliable project in terms of sport and it seems that he is in a position to do so. From there, a transfer agreement should be reached at a maximum figure of 150 million. Liverpool were in the bidding to sign Mbappé last summer until the very last moment. The striker saw him as a very good sporting option but eventually opted to renew and also turned down a Madrid side who now seem unwilling to bid for him after their stand-off a few months ago.
