Ahead of Saturday's game, the Citizens have been dealt a blow that will affect their chances of facing the Reds.

Undoubtedly one of the surprise packages of the early part of the season has been Mikel Arteta's Arsenal, who went into the Qatar 2022 World Cup break top of the Premier League and five points clear of nearest challengers Pep Guardiola's Manchester City. In such a situation, it is clear to the Gunners that this is a golden opportunity to lift the title again almost 20 years later.

For this reason, the London club's directors have promised the Spanish coach that there will be reinforcements in the winter transfer window, especially in the attacking line, where Arsenal have suffered the loss of Gabriel Jesus at the World Cup. In this context, the Gunners have a favourite name on their wish list, and that is none other than Mykhaylo Mudryk, a Shakhtar Donetsk player who, as we mentioned, has been one of Arsenal's transfer priorities for a long time.

If Liverpool wants to improve their season after a difficult start, they must be aggressive

Liverpool's pursuit of World Cup hero has suffered a setback

However, his high price tag (the Ukrainian club are asking 100 million for him) had put a brake on the English side's interest, at least until now, as with Gabriel Jesus' injury and according to information from The Daily Mail, the team coached by Arteta is considering making an offer in January of 85 million pounds (close to 100 million in euros) for Mudryk.

Of course, a somewhat exorbitant amount if you take into account that the Ukrainian is currently valued at 40 million euros, according to Transfermarkt, but by age (he is only 21 years old), goal scoring records (he currently has 10 goals in 18 games) and footballing qualities, it could be a good signing.  In this sense, the Ukrainian striker stands out as a versatile player, capable of playing in the three attacking positions, with a very good definition and a wonderful associative and dribbling ability.

These qualities would undoubtedly represent a great leap in quality in the Arsenal squad as they aim to win the Premier League title again, at the expense of Pep Guardiola's Manchester City who, to date, have been the clear dominators in England in recent years.
