Man who traded Sadio Mané is close to the Premier League

Since the arrival of Todd Boehly at Chelsea, it has become known that there would be certain changes in the different areas of the London club. One of them would be the search for the position in the sporting directorate to accompany the new owner and Graham Potter in the new project. The choice would be a brilliant mind who knew how to negotiate Sadio Mané to the Premier League.

According to European sources and after several names on the table, one of the chosen ones would be Christonph Freund, who holds the same position at RB Salzburg currently in the Austrian League. For now, there are already advanced talks between the Blues and the Austrian to bring him to English football where he has been able to place different quality players.

It is worth noting that Freund has been the man behind important deals such as Erling Haaland, Sadio Mané, Naby Keita and Benjamin Sesko, the latter being the reason why Boehly was able to meet him in the negotiations for the Slovenian player. Mané was one of the best players in recent years in the Premier League. 

The other major candidate is Paul Mitchell, who manages Monaco in the transfer market. It has already been reported in the media that he wants the job. His problem is that Freund is Boehly's favourite, so it is likely that, as the parties come closer to an agreement, he will have to resign himself to his job in Ligue 1.

This potential change in the Chelsea set-up would be the second major decision after the sacking of Thomas Tuchel. The manager who brought the Champions League to the club's trophy cabinet in 2021 was eventually replaced by Graham Potter, who made a disappointing Champions League debut with a draw against Salzburg.
