He has been recognised for his contribution to the Reds' poor run of form

Despite the fact that the results have not been as expected in recent Premier League and Champions League games, questions have been raised about the attitude of some of Liverpool's players on the pitch. Among the few to be spared is Colombian striker Luis Diaz, who most Reds fans have backed with their comments on social media.

"Honestly, I feel bad for Diaz for having to put up with this sh**t. He joins a big club, everyone doubts he can follow Klopp's style of play. Turns out he's the only one trying" read one of the comments on social media, while another fan expressed his concern for what's to come: "I'm worried about Diaz bringing the team down to the level of the team instead of the team coming up to his.

It's not all bad, fans recognise a good decision by Liverpool

Some fans demanded a better attitude from their players, the same attitude shown by the Colombian: "It has to be maddening for him. The man dies every game while Trent (Alexander-Arnold) and others walk." Another fan added: "Watching Diaz is like when you start a new job fresh and motivated and you end up having to motivate all your veteran teammates to do their jobs and they don't care about anything anymore."

Former Reds player Jamie Carragher, speaking on CBS, analysed the causes of Liverpool's poor form, starting with a concentration issue that has seen them start five out of eight games this season. For the Englishman, the defence has lost solidity, but this is more evidenced by a lack of pressing in midfield: "Liverpool play a high risk game, but they're not really pressing the ball to stop the opposition and that causes a problem. It's about being compact, being together. At the moment, it's too easy to get through Liverpool's midfield. That didn't happen before.

What needs to be improved?

Injuries have played a part in Liverpool's plight, with Klopp missing several key players in midfield and up front for several games. Ibrahima Konaté, Naby Keita, Jordan Henderson, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain remain absent. Thiago and Diogo Jota have only just recovered. The Reds are looking to bounce back and get their season back on track after a poor start. The first opportunity to do so will be in the second Champions League game against Ajax at Anfield after the postponement of the Premier League fixture due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
