The race for the Premier League is at its peak, as the end of the first half draws ever closer and the lead is still very much up for grabs between Liverpool and Arsenal, who are in first and second place respectively, with the Reds holding a one-point lead over the Gunners and the forthcoming games of vital importance.
This weekend will be crucial for both teams as Merseyside prepares to host Manchester United on Sunday. In a game where the Reds will be looking for a win that will put them firmly in the Premier League lead. Arsenal, meanwhile, will have a tough time on Sunday when they host Brighton at the Emirates Stadium. While this may seem like just another game for the Gunners, this will be their last game before facing the Reds. So Arsenal will have to be careful as Kai Havertz has already accumulated four yellow cards.
So Liverpool could have a two-game lead before they face Arsenal in the Premier League, as if the German Havertz receives one more caution, he will miss the game against the Reds for accumulating five yellow cards. That would undoubtedly be a huge advantage for Jürgen Klopp.
Havertz is a key player in the Gunners midfield where this season he has played 25 games and has scored 4 goals and 1 assist. Liverpool host Manchester United on Sunday and on Tuesday the Reds play again at Anfield in the EFL Cup against West Ham. So Sunday could be a double win day for Liverpool. Going into the Arsenal game as clear leaders and with more confidence to win.
Before facing Liverpool, Arsenal will only have to face Brighton, which is a big challenge for the Gunners. The last time the Seagulls visited the Emirates Stadium, in May this year, Brighton thrashed the Gunners 3-0 away. So if Brighton get a positive result against Arsenal again, they will come into the game against the Reds with their spirits very low. Which would be another huge advantage for Klopp and his team.
