Prior to their Carabao Cup match against Manchester City later this week, Liverpool players returned to the AXA Training Centre on Monday after spending nearly two weeks in the Middle East, after Sunday's thrilling World Cup final between Argentina and France, all eyes on Merseyside will be on the coming weeks and months as Jurgen Klopp's team
Looks to tackle the second half of the season and make up for their subpar start to the 2022–23 Premier League season, Alisson Becker and Fabinho, two Brazilian players, returned to Merseyside training on Monday following a roughly six-week absence from the AXA Centre, the two were members of Tite's 26-man squad for the finals in Qatar.
Alisson was one of the Selecao's stars during the trip, whilst Fabinho was mostly relegated to a supporting role in the Middle East, Many had predicted the 2002 champions to win their sixth World Cup, but a shocking penalty shootout loss to Croatia in the quarterfinals put a stop to Fabinho and Alisson's hopes of becoming household names in their native country.
It is unclear whether the pair will be needed for the Carabao Cup match against Manchester City on Thursday after enjoying a week off following their disappointment in Qatar, as has been the case for everyone in the Reds' squad engaged in the competition after England's quarterfinalists Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jordan Henderson,
Who both resumed official training on Monday, were defeated by AC Milan on Friday, Klopp refused to rule them out of the trip to the Etihad, But it is likely that Caoimhin Kelleher will be chosen after the Reds manager said the 33-man group had taken a "big step" during their stay in Dubai. Stefan Bajcetic might join Thiago Alcantara, Harvey Elliott, and the rest of the midfielders.
