Ahead of the first leg of their UEFA Champions League last-16 tie, Liverpool will take to the pitch at St James' Park in search of their second successive Premier League win. Thiago Alcántara, Luis Díaz and Ibrahima Konaté are sidelined for the game, while Calvin Ramsay has undergone surgery on a meniscus injury.

According to GOAL, Klopp will have to make use of what he has available after these absentees, who are already ruled out for the match against Real Madrid, hoping that they can reappear during the tournament. The German coach also celebrated the midweek returns of Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino, who both made the trip to Newcastle.

It was revealed through the same media that Anfield would have some good news, with the return of Netherlands and Liverpool superstar Virgil van Dijk, who was finally cleared following a hamstring injury; the captain returns after a 40-day absence and could be in line for minutes against a surprising Newcastle side ranked in the top four.

The good news that came to Anfield

Van Dijk arrives at a good time, as it's not just the game against the Magpies, but against Madrid, who at least for the La Liga game against Real Vallolodid, will be without Benzema, Kroos and Mendy, levelling the odds for next Tuesday's first leg at Anfield. In anticipation of this game, Klopp could field a combination of starters and substitutes.
